New Jersey man killed in crash on Interstate 95


COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — A 42-year-old New Jersey man is dead following a crash on Interstate 95 Thursday morning.

Officials say on September 29 at 9:22 a.m. Colleton Firefighter-Paramedics arrived at Interstate 95 near the 41 mile marker southbound within minutes of the crash to find the SUV in the median with heavy damage.

An investigation revealed a southbound SUV collided with a tanker truck, then crashed into several trees in the median.

The male driver was ejected from the vehicle. He was wearing a seatbelt. A female passenger received minor injuries. Five cats in the vehicle were also injured.

The driver of the tanker truck was not injured. The trailer was emptied of any fuel.

One lane of I-95 was blocked due to the accident, causing traffic to back up for four miles.
