Hung Tran

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — The man who faced charges, after parking his car on the train tracks in Hanahan, leading to a crash involving an Amtrak train has been released from jail.

Hung Tran, 54, was charged with driving under the influence.

Authorities say Tran’s car got stuck in gravel by the tracks after he misjudged a turn around 11 p.m. Sunday, September 4. We’re told the train’s engineer told police Tran was waving his arms as the train approached the area.

Tran was arrested at the scene. No one was injured during the incident.

The 54-year-old’s blood-alcohol level at the time was 0.15, according to the Hanahan Police Department.
