CHARLOTTE, NC (WCBD)- Chief Kerr Putney with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has announced that the department will release body camera and dash camera footage from the shooting of Keith Scott. Only footage directly leading up, during, and directly after the incident will be released as well as a “number of images.”
Before the video was released, Chief Putney wanted to assure that by releasing the footage, there would be no adverse reaction to the ongoing investigation by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. Chief Putney also stated that Scott was in possession of marijuana and a hand gun.
As of 4:42PM, Putney stated that the footage would be released within the half hour.
