CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WBCD) — A Charleston County teacher is on paid administrative leave while authorities investigate allegations of inappropriate activity.
The name of the Burke High School teacher being investigated is redacted in a Charleston Police Department report.
Authorities were first informed of the allegations on September 19 when Burke’s principal told the school resource officer that “allegations of inappropriate activities may have taken place between current teacher (name redacted) and juvenile students,” reads the CPD incident report.
The teacher in question has been with Charleston County School District since 2010 and is female, according to CCSD officials.
Parents picking up their children at the high school Friday afternoon told News 2 they had not been informed about the incident by Burke staff.
District spokesman Andy Pruitt wrote in a statement on the investigation:
The teacher is on administrative leave. Since this is a personnel matter, and police are investigating the matter, we cannot comment beyond that. Law enforcement has our full support and cooperation.
