CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WCBD) — NBC News has obtained video of the fatal confrontation between Keith Scott and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
The video, taken by Scott’s wife, doesn’t show the actual shooting or whether Scott had a gun in his possession. But Scott’s wife is heard pleading with officers “don’t shoot him” and “he has no weapon”. She then tries to tell officers that her husband has a traumatic brain injury and that he’s not going to do anything to them. But within a few seconds, several shots are heard and Scott’s wife starts yelling at officers “he better not be dead”. The video then shows officers standing over Scott’s motionless body on the street as his wife repeatedly says “he better live”.
