BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — On Thursday, September 22,  the man who killed his wife and injured two other family members pleaded guilty to murder, two counts of attempted murder and two counts of kidnapping.

Darryl Edward Flowers killed his wife, Tammy Flowers, in June 2014, and shot his two teenage nieces who were living in the home, according to Berkeley County Sheriff’s officials. It happened at their home on Ellwood Place near Medway Road and Pine Grove Road. Sheriff’s officials say Flowers took off from the scene soon after.

Flowers was later arrested by Maryland State Police on I-95 while in a stolen vehicle. When officers attempted to stop Flowers, he refused to stop. When he did stop, he cut his throat and wrists with a box cutter.

He has since healed and will now serve his sentence of 40 years for the murder and 30 years for each of the remaining charges.
