CHARLESTON, S.C. – On the day Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt announce plans to separate, the West Ashley High School football team is recognized for coming together.
The Wildcats are fresh off a 28-14 win over region rival, Ashley Ridge. The victory pushed the ‘Cats to 1-0 in region 7-5A.
“The only thing better than starting 1-0 in region is starting 2-0,” said West Ashley head football coach Bobby Marion.
The Wilcats’ quarterback, Chris Hethington, thinks his team is in for a special season.
“Unlike West Ashley in the past, we’ve had a goal [and] put our minds to it. We’re not losing sight of that goal and we’re putting in the work we need to put in,” said Hethington.
West Ashley senior running back Dexter Freeman summed up the win over Ashley Ridge while keeping his eyes on the horizon.
“We beat them and we’re ready for Goose Creek.”
