Missing man with mental disabilities, Parkinson’s found safe


NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — North Charleston Police say a man with mental disabilities who’s been missing since Tuesday evening has been found.

Kirby Gathers, 60, was last seen at a home on Starlett Avenue, located in the Pepperhill neighborhood in North Charleston. According to police, Gathers frequently visits the areas of Meeting Street in Charleston.

According to the report, Gathers is a client with the Disabilities Board and stays at the residence under the care of the complainant. Police say Gathers suffers from Parkinson’s disease and is on several medications.


Officials said Gathers has been located and is safe. No other details surrounding his disappearance was released.
