Authorities to hold news conference on Sangaree murder

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is investigating following a murder in the Sangaree area.

On Wednesday, September 21 at 12:05 a.m., deputies responded to a reported death in the 200 block of Birmingham Drive. Vanessa Hilton was found dead in the home. We’re told Hilton daughter found her.

An investigation revealed her death was a result of domestic-related incident.

Shon E. Hilton, 39, was arrested on Federal property near Fort Stewart, Georgia on unrelated charges.  We’re told Hilton is the victim’s husband and he took his wife’s maroon Pontiac G6 sedan and fled the scene, following the incident, according to a news release. 

Detectives from the Fort Stewart base police contacted the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office after investigating the origin of his vehicle.

Hilton was arrested by the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office on June 1, 2016 for Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor, victim under age 16, second degree and indecent exposure. He was currently out on bond for those charges.
