NAN to hold news conference to discuss recent crime in Charleston-area


NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — A local civil rights organization will hold a news conference about recent crimes in the Charleston area.

The National Action Network will hold the briefing at the Lonnie Hamilton III Public Service Building at 4045 Bridge View Drive in North Charleston.

According to State Coordinator Elder James Johnson, the purpose of the meeting is to address the increase crimes and murders in Charleston.

An investigation revealed the current number of homicides for 2016 in North Charleston is 20. Ten of the homicides in North Charleston remain unsolved. We are working to learn current numbers for homicides for other areas in the Lowcountry.
