Center of Hermine moving into North Carolina.
At 11 p.m., the center of Hermine was about 30 miles WSW of Wilmington, NC, latitude 34.1 North, longitude 78.4 West. Hermine is moving toward the northeast near 22 mph, and this motion is expected to continue with some decrease in forward speed through Saturday night.
On the forecast track, the center of Hermine will move across coastal South Carolina this evening, move across coastal North Carolina tonight and Saturday morning, and move offshore of the North Carolina coast by Saturday afternoon.
Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph with higher gusts. Little change in strength is expected tonight and early Saturday while the center of Hermine remains over land. Once the storm moves offshore, it could get stronger. Hermine could be near hurricane strength by late Sunday.
