EFLAND, N.C. (WNCN) – An Orange County eighth grader died after suffering breathing problems during football practice earlier in the week.
Frederick Seymour was a rising eighth grader at Gravelly Hill Middle School in Efland, officials said.
Seymour was taken to the hospital after suffering breathing issues during Monday’s practice.
School district spokesman says en route to the hospital, Seymour suffered some health complications.
Grief counselors were available Friday for the staff.
The first day of school is next week, the counselors will be available then as well.
All extracurricular activities for Friday and this weekend have been canceled for the middle school.
A GoFundMe page has been establish to assist Seymour’s family.
The high temperature in Orange County Monday was in the mid-80s.
