Suspect runs away from authorities following traffic stop

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is searching for the person who ran away while police were attempting a traffic stop.

Authorities say on Thursday, August 25, just before 11 a.m., a deputy attempted to a traffic stop on Dills Bluff Road after a driver was speeding.

We’re told initially, the driver of the white Nissan SUV stopped but as officials approached the driver, the suspect sped away. After a brief chase, the driver stopped on Meeting Street near Riker Street and fled on foot.

Two people who were inside of the car were detained for further questioning, according to Major Eric Watson.
