MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) — The Mount Pleasant Police Department says a man responsible for a stabbing in Mount Pleasant, turned himself into authorities.
Matthew Barnes, 25, of Charleston is charged with attempted murder, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Authorities say on Saturday, August 20, at approximately 3:40 a.m., officers responded to 36 Perseverance Street in reference to a stabbing.
We’re told Barnes was attending a house party at the location when an altercation broke out with another guest.
During the altercation, Barnes stabbed the first victim in the neck and abdomen, according to authorities. A second victim was cut on the arm and shoulder.
Medics transported both to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The pair has since been released.
Barnes turned himself in to officers on Thursday, August 25.
