CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCBD) — Since 2013, News 2 has reported at least three different incidents involving disciplinary actions for teachers at Goose Creek High School.
The News 2 I-Team found more than 60 teachers across South Carolina have been disciplined for bad behavior this year alone.
North Charleston High School math teacher Wendy Burnett was arrested earlier this month for felony DUI. Police say Burnett was driving drunk on I-26, when she smashed into a patrol car and seriously injured a North Charleston police officer who was working a traffic stop. Burnett now on leave, and her teaching license is suspended.
So far in 2016, 64 teachers in all faced discipline from the state school board. The issues range from a public reprimand to license suspension and license revocation. The offenses include breach of contract and harassment, inappropriate relations with students, and sexual misconduct.
Four Charleston County teachers were disciplined, plus three in Georgetown County, one in Colleton County, and one in Williamsburg County.
