Man charged with attempted murder for early morning stabbings in North Charleston

North Charleston, SC (WCBD) – A homeless man is behind bars after two people were stabbed early Friday morning in  North Charleston.

According to the North Charleston Police Department, the incident happened just before 1:00 a.m. in the 4000 block of Meeting Street Road.

The victims were a male and a female, officials say the male had been stabbed twice, once in his left shoulder blade and also his left clavicle, the female was stabbed once in her left clavicle.

Both victims identified James Edward Mazyck as the suspect.

Officers later found a small steak knife with blood on the tip, which was the weapon used to stab both victims.

The victims were taken to MUSC where they are currently in stable condition.

Mazyck is charged with two counts of attempted murder.
