CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WCBD) – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for a burglary at Coastal Firearms in Berkeley County.
ATF is offering a reward of up to $5,000 which will be matched by the NSSF for a total reward of up to $10,000.
Authorities say 38 guns of various types were stolen between 12:20 – 12:40 a.m. on Sunday, August 7.
“The burglars actually broke in through the roof, which is unusual,” Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Mike Cochran said. “Most burglars will actually go through a door or window.”
The incident is being investigated by ATF and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials say the reward is part of a larger initiative between the NSSF and ATF in which NSSF matches ATF rewards in cases involving the theft of firearms from federally licensed firearms retailers.
