BALTIMORE, Md. (WCBD) — The mother who gained national attention for pulling her son away from the Baltimore riots says she and her family are staying at a hotel.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Toya Graham and her family after a fire Saturday, August 13.
“Am I angry upset with my son, yes. But he’s alive. At the end of the day, I want him to know that I’m glad that it wasn’t worse,” Graham said.
We’re told the same son she reprimanded during the riots, Michael Singleton, was frying chicken tenders in the kitchen. He stepped away quickly and when he came back, the fire ignited.
“My first instinct was just to grab some water and try to put it out,” Singleton said.
No one was injured, but the family cannot live in the home until repairs are made.
The American Red Cross is helping the family.
