Children at center of kidnapping case in Colleton County now back home

COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — Three children at the center of a kidnapping case in Colleton County are now back home.

In March 2016, a 4-year-old girl, her 2-year-old sister, and 3-year-old cousin all disappeared from their mobile home in Smoaks.

Authorities later found them in the closet of an abandoned trailer nearby 18 hours later.

The children were placed in protective custody with the South Carolina Department of Social Services during the investigation.

Officials now say the case is now closed unless new information becomes available.
