RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — The Richland County Sheriff’s Office will overhaul its School Resource Office Program in the wake of a high-profile incident that was caught on camera.

In 2015, a female student at Spring Valley High School was violently pulled from her chair and thrown on the floor.

In an agreement with the Department of Justice, the Sheriff’s Office must develop policies to minimize school-based arrests, and provide intensive, annual training for officers.
