Former SC cop accused of child sex crime in patrol car

FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. (WSPA) – A former Fountain Inn police officer has been arrested in connection with sexual activity with a minor, according to SLED.

Adam Kyle Snelgrove, 31, was charged with criminal solicitation of a minor, third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, and misconduct in office.

Snelgrove was booked at the Greenville County Detention Center.

The case was investigated by SLED at the request of the Fountain Inn Police Department.

Snelgrove is accused of contacting a 15-year-old girl to engage or participate in sexual activity between May and November 2012, according to an arrest warrant. During the same time period, authorities say he kissed, hugged and inappropriately touched a teen at Frankie’s Fun Park.

Snelgrove is further accused of committing the sex crime in a city-issued patrol car.

The case will be prosecuted by the 13th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

A report from the SC Criminal Justice Academy shows Snelgrove’s resigned in May 2015 after a misconduct investigation began.

The reason stated in the report is “Inappropriate photos sent to a high school student.”

Chief Morton says this is the same student relating to Snelgrove’s charges released today.
