The fourth day of Shooting at the Olympics only features one final, in the women’s 25m pistol competition. Qualification starts at 8 a.m., and the finals kick off at 2:30 p.m.
South Korea’s Kim Jang-mi is the reigning gold medal winner in the event, which she won as a 19-year-old. Chen Ying, the 2008 champion, will look to take her medal back in Rio.
Ying’s compatriot, Zhang Jingjing looks to be in the mix towards the end as she recently won gold in the 2015 World Cup final.
There is one American in the event, Enkelejda Shehaj Bekurti. She was also in the 10m air pistol event, but failed to qualify for the final.
Finalists from the 10m air pistol event that will also compete in the 25m include 10m silver medalist Vitalina Batsarashkina of Russia, bronze medalist Anna Korakaki of Greece, Egypt’s Afaf Elhodhod who finished fifth, Serbia’s Bobana Velickovic who finished seventh and Russia’s Ekaterina Korshunova who was first to exit the final in eighth place.
