Two woman stabbed several times, suspect found dead

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) -North Charleston police are investigating an aggravated assault that occurred on Pine Field Court early Sunday morning.

According to a police report, officers were called for a “suspicious person” and were flagged down by a witness who said there was an unresponsive woman on the ground near her car.

Officials found two women in the area with several stab wounds. The first victim was stabbed in her neck, chest and leg, the second  was stab in her back and chest.

Based on witness statements, officers went to an apartment in search for a suspect. Upon entering the apartment authorities found the alleged suspect hanged and unresponsive. According to Charleston County Deputy Coroner Sara Senn, Tommy Kevin Mitchell, 25, died of asphyxia due to hanging.

Police say both victims were taken to the Medical University of South Carolina.
