Search is on for man, woman involved in July shooting

SUMTER, S.C. (WCBD) — The Sumter Police Department is searching for a man and woman involved in a shooting in July.

Xavier Namir Chennault, 21, is wanted for attempted murder. Kiara Ashonta Johnson, 18, of Sumter is wanted for an accessory after the fact of attempted murder.

Authorities say Alphonso Mack, 36 was found in his Miller Road home with multiple gunshot wounds on July 20. He was brought to Palmetto Health Tuomey by friends and then flown to a Columbia-area hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Chennault is described as an African-American man, standing at 5’5, weighing 155 lbs. Johnson is described as an African-American female, standing at 5’7, weighing 164 lbs.

We’re told both suspects are formerly of Virginia and were last seen at the bus station in Columbia just after the July 20 shooting.
