BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has released the identity of the person on Highway 17A.
Coroner Bill Salisbury says on Friday, August 5, at 9:15 p.m., 67-year-old Paul Joseph Escritt, of Moncks Corner, was struck by a vehicle on South Live Oak Dr. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say Escritt was crossing the road when he was struck. His death was ruled accidental.
At this point, authorities do not expect charges to be filed, but the accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
