Bond hearing for 5th suspect arrested in connection to deadly home invasion in Huger canceled

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office arrested a fifth person in connection with a home invasion and subsequent murder in Huger.

Darius Hamilton, 18 of St. Stephen, is charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of kidnapping, attempted murder, murder, possession of a weapon in the commission of a crime, and first degree burglary. He is scheduled to appear in court for a bond hearing Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

“We are extremely pleased to have the fifth suspect in custody in this case,” Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis said. “I am proud of the hard work our detectives have put forward in this case,” Lewis added.

Deputies say five men forcing their way inside a home on Martha Lane, killing Kadeem Johnson and wounding a woman before fleeing on Thursday, July 21.

Kenneth Campbell, Jr., Jacob Malachi Mouzon, Drake Edward Campbell, and Sherrod Deon Palmer were all arrested in connection to the incident.

A bond hearing scheduled for Thursday, August 4 was canceled at the request of Hamilton’s attorney.
