(WCBD) There were emotional moments at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday night, when two women from Charleston took the stage.
Felicia Sanders and Polly Sheppard are two of the three survivors of the shooting at Emanuel AME church in June 2015.
Wednesday night, the two talked about the shooting that claimed the lives of nine people, including their pastor, State Senator and Rev. Clementa Pinchney.
Sheppard and Sanders said the shooters who take the lives of Americans are hateful, but that they choose to embrace love. Sanders and Sheppard also addressed gun violence and shared their support for Hillary Clinton.
Family members of the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting and Orlando nightclub shooting also addressed gun violence earlier Thursday evening.
