SUMTER, S.C. (WCBD) — The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is investigating following a home invasion on Olin Goode Drive.
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a home invasion where a resident of the home was cut with a knife on Friday.
Authorities say on Friday, July 15 at 1 p.m., a 17-year-old was home alone when he heard a noise and thought it was his father returning home.
We’re told the victim came out of the bathroom and discovered a male, wearing a ski mask, work gloves, blue jeans and work boots inside the home. The victim told investigators the intruder was about six feet tall.
The teenager grabbed a knife but during a fight the suspect was able to get it away from him and used it to cut the victim several times, according to a news release.
The suspect fled in an unknown direction.
The victim is being treated at Palmetto Health Tuomey at this time. There is no word on his condition.
