MOUNT PLEASANT,SC (WCBD)–On Friday, low country residents reacted to the shooting that took place in Dallas on Thursday night.

It happened during a seemingly peaceful protest over the 2 controversial police shootings in Baton Rouge and St. Paul.

5 officers were killed and 7 others were wounded, by a gunman who police say wanted to kill white officers.

In Charleston many locals say that they are deeply saddened over the news, and over the tensions that led to the shooting.

While many opinions exist about why the shooting happened and what needs to be done about it, many shared the opinion that shootings like this cannot continue to happen.
