The attorneys who represented the family of Walter Scott say they are representing the family of Alton Sterling, the Louisiana man shot dead by Baton Rouge police officers.
Attorneys Justin Bamberg and L. Chris Stewart made the announcement to reporters outside the Triple S market where 37-year-old Sterling was killed early Tuesday.
The men were part of the legal team helping the families of men like Walter Scott who was killed by police in South Carolina.
Stewart said the killing should never have happened and that the two officers should have “de-escalated” the situation instead of ratcheting it up.
The U.S. Justice Department is investigating the video-recorded killing of Sterling. Police said had a gun as he wrestled with two white officers outside a Baton Rouge convenience store.
He earned a living selling CDs outside the store.
