Dog’s genitals cut off in Georgetown County; now adapting following surgery

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — A dog in Georgetown County that had its genitals cut off is adapting following surgery.

On Thursday, June 9, deputies met the owners of Major Pain who said when they arrived to their home on Winterberry Drive, they noticed the yellow lab retriever was bleeding from its genitals, according to an incident reportWCBD-DogCutinGeorgetownCounty

The Byrdic’s tell News 2 that Major Pain had surgery on Friday, June 10 and he was brought home on June 12. We’ve learned for nearly two weeks, the lab was sedated and was on antibiotics.

WCBD-MajorPainBGAfter returning to Mount Pleasant Veterinary Specialty Care two weeks after surgery, his owner’s say stitches removed and a protective cone was taken off his head for much more comfort and mobility.

We’re told nearly a month later, the dog has adapted well to having to use the bathroom like a female and is back to his normal self.

Two women have set up an account at First Citizens bank called “The Major Payne Fund” to raise money for a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible. The Byrdic’s add if the money is not used as a reward, it will go towards vet bills.
