COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) – The Richland County coroner says a 31-year-old man living in a home without air conditioning in Columbia has died from the heat.
Coroner Gary Watts said in a news release that Jamal Graham was taken to the emergency room Tuesday and died a day later from exposure to the heat.
It’s been an unseasonably hot summer in Columbia. The city has had highs of 100 degrees or more for five straight days.
The nights haven’t cooled down. Weather data shows the temperature has dipped below 75 degrees for just 13 hours in the past 10 days in Columbia.
