Gas leak in downtown Charleston secured; streets now open

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) —  A gas leak in downtown Charleston is now secured, according to the Charleston Fire Department.

Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch say the call came in at 10:46 a.m. about a possible gas leak at 22 Orrs Court.

Orrs Court was closed for a short time — with homes around the area evacuated as a precaution. People were also encouraged to avoid the surrounding area on Fishbourne and Sumter Streets.

There were no reports of any injuries.  The leak forced the street closures for about two hours.
