JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – On Friday evening, a group of family and friends from Afton, Tenn. were surprised at LongHorn Steakhouse in Johnson City by their soldier returning home.
Joshua Paul, an Infantryman in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Louis in Washington, was able to surprise his family after being deployed for the last 10 months.

Walking through the busy restaurant, Joshua Paul strolled in and up to his mother and asked if he could refill her coffee. His mother, Beth Paul, jumped up to hug her son, as applause could be heard from around the restaurant.
“I’m on top of the world. My heart is just burning,” Beth Paul, Joshua’s mother, said. “I’m just on top of the world. What a surprise. I had no idea.”Beth Paul said that “it’s been so long since I got to see him and just hug him. I’ve just been missing him really bad here lately.”“I’m thankful for our servicemen and women every day,” Beth Paul said. “The past, present and future. I just want to thank them all and just hope they all can get home.”
