CHARLESTON, S.C. – “I eat dirt, where you can find your grit. It’s very crunchy.”
Jackson Freeman and his teammates on the Daniel Island Dogs little league team have been cracking jokes and eating dirt all season.
“We’ve come so far from being a rec. team here on Daniel Island to representing our entire state,” said C.J. Goforth.
The 11 & 12 year team isn’t the only Daniel Island squad to rep the lowcountry in next month’s Cal State Ripken Southeast Regionals, the 9 & 10 year olds will also make the trip.
It’s the first time ever that both teams have won the state championship.
“I always knew we had the talent, we just had to start working together as a team,” said head coach, Cy Goforth.
