ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque police said she’s a smooth operator. They believe the same woman has stolen more than $3,000 worth of makeup in three days from the same store.
According to police, the woman went to a CVS on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. It’s the CVS located on the corner of Menaul and Eubank. APD said the woman is getting greedy because each time she walks into the store she leaves with more merchandise.
“It’s crazy amounts that she’s stealing,” APD Ofc. Simon Drobik said. “You can see the purse she has when she goes in, she goes prepared.”
Police said on Monday the woman stole nearly $500 in merchandise. Tuesday, nearly $1,000, and Wednesday night, according to police, she walked out with a purse full of makeup worth nearly $1,900.
KRQE News 13 obtained surveillance video as the woman enters the store Wednesday night just after 8 p.m. She’s on her cell phone. She heads straight for the makeup aisle and just as she turns a corner, she makes sure no one is around, then appears to slip something inside her purse. She does this for about ten minutes, in plain sight, never putting down her phone. All this while police say someone is waiting for her outside.
“We believe she has an accomplice in the white car,” Drobik said. “This guy parks backward into a spot so it’s an easy getaway.”
Then when the damage is done the woman walks outside, gets into the white car and the two drive off. Police said she’s stolen nearly $3,400 in makeup in the last three days.
From the video it appears the woman has tattoos on her back. Police have not identified the woman in the video or the person in the getaway car. They’re hoping someone will recognize the woman and call police.
