Good Samaritan robbed at gunpoint after offering man a ride home

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WCBD) — An Orangeburg man who was offered a ride home is charged with robbing his Good Samaritan.

Adriel Morgan, 32, of Orangeburg is charged with armed robbery.

Authorities say the victim told investigators that she saw Morgan walking along Joe Jeffords Highway on June 22.  She said she knew him from a local soup kitchen and stopped to see if he needed a ride.

As the woman was dropping the man off at his house, he pulled out a handgun. She began to fight with the man but he fled after grabbing her purse that contained personal papers and her cell phone, according to a news release.

Morgan was apprehended on Tuesday, June 28. Bond was denied at a bond hearing on Wednesday.
