The sun’s rays are only getting hotter as we enter the first weekend of summer.
People all over the Lowcountry were convinced Friday was the hottest day of the year, but the average high was 93.
At Folly Beach, the shores were starting to get crowded before noon. Open umbrellas and the rolling waves were the only respites from the sun availible.
The heat index was 103 but that did not stop folks from going to Redux Yoga on the Crosstown, where it’s 105 degrees in some classes.
Off East Bay Street, the pineapple fountain was a Mecca for young ones beating the heat.
As the day wound down, a carriage horse driver said it could be worse, “it could be a 103.”
Saturday’s forecast calls for similar temperatures with thunderstorms.
