FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCBD) — The annual fireworks display on the Edge of America is canceled.
Officials with the Folly Beach Department of Public Safety say due to expected high tides, the event will not take place. A fireworks display is planned for Labor Day weekend instead.
The ofevening high tide on July 4 is forecast to rise near King tide level of 6.6 feet or more, at least a foot above the usual tidal range.
Individual fireworks are not allowed on Folly Beach.
