GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — Emergency responders confirmed a structure fire in the Georgetown County. It’s unknown at this time whether the blaze is lightning related.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family, whose home is located on Powell Loop in Andrews. Andrews Fire Department responded to the fire.
The agency is helping three people by providing financial assistance for food, clothing, lodging, and other essentials, and comfort kits containing personal hygiene items.
Meanwhile we’re told crews are working to handle multiple downed trees and power lines following severe weather in the area. Outages were also reported in Andrews due to a tree on power lines on East Cherry Street and in North Santee.
No injuries have been reported.
Officials remind people to not approach downed power lines, even if they do not appear to be live. Also, do not attempt to move downed trees.
