After 49 people were killed in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history early Sunday at a Florida nightclub, JetBlue Airways began offering free flights to families of victims and survivors heading to and from Orlando Monday.

“Like many of you, we continue to watch reports of the Orlando nightclub shooting with great sadness,” JetBlue’s site read. “Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones.”

JetBlue said it would provide free seats on available flights to and from Orlando for immediate family members and domestic partners of victims killed or injured in the terror attack that killed 49 and hurt 53.

In addition to free seats, JetBlue was offering to waive fees through Tuesday for affected travelers making last-minute travel changes due to the attack.

The shooter, later identified as a 29-year-old American-born Muslim named Omar Mateen, opened fire on gay nightclub Pulse after calling 911 and pledging loyalty to the head of ISIS.

Armed with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle and a handgun, Mateen opened fire on the crowded nightclub before being shot to death by police.

President Barack Obama said it appears Mateen acted alone and was inspired by extremist information found on the internet. Mateen’s father said the shooter may have been motivated by anti-gay hatred as he had witnessed two men kissing in Miami months earlier and reacted in anger.

Anyone with questions or needing travel assistance was encouraged to call 1-800-JETBLUE for details.
