Town hall meeting seeks to improve relationship between police and minority community

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) — The Summerville Community Resource Center is hosting a town hall meeting on Thursday in an effort to improve the relationship between the police department and minority community.

The subjects expected to be addressed at the meeting include the need for the black community to come forward to assist in solving some of the violent crimes that have happened in Summerville.

The meeting will include an overview of police tactics and procedures in minority neighborhoods, including statistics of minorities being stopped by the law.

The goal is to ensure that racial profiling is not taking place, and to build bridges between the police department and community.
