ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A teenager is in police custody in Orangeburg County after authorities say he shot at a dog after a home burglary.
Kamari Johnson, 17, of Cordova is charged with first-degree burglary. Bond was denied at a hearing due to possibly being a ” flight risk since he’s facing up to life in prison for the charge,” according to Orangeburg County Magistrate Peggy Doremus.
Recently, Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office investigators were sent to a home on Narvalle Lane due to a home alarm. No one was found inside.
A neighbor told detectives someone fled the area by jumping several fences, according to a news release. The neighbor said the person jumped into one yard where a dog was kept. The suspect fired several shots at the animal as it chased him. The dog’s owner also said when the dog began chasing the person, the suspect turned and began firing at it. The dog was not hurt by the gunfire.
Johnson was identified as the person responsible by several people in the area.
