ANDREWS, S.C. (WCBD) — After outrage over a picture of a pit bull’s ears being cut with scissors are posted online, authorities arrest a mother and son in connection to the incident.
Myrtle McGee, 57, of Andrews and Scotty Bruce Tyler, 37, of Georgetown are both charged with ill treatment of animals.
According to the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday, June 4, McGee along with her son, Tyler cut the pit bull’s ears with a pair of household scissors at a home in the 1000 block of Seaboard Road in Andrews. The pictures were then posted on Facebook.
The pit bull, named Brick, is in protective custody and being treated for his injuries.
We’re told McGee and Tyler will appear before a Williamsburg County Magistrate for an explanation of the charges. The pair will remain at the Williamsburg County Detention Center until a bond hearing can be scheduled.
