Father arrested following house fire in Berkeley County now out of police custody

Roderick Dont’e Nunle

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) —  The father of two children injured in a house fire in Berkeley County is now out of jail.

Roderick Nunley was arrested on a probation violation, an outstanding warrant, and for providing false information to a deputy. According to court records, he was released on bond on Thursday, June 9.

Authorities say two children, ages six and an infant, were inside the home when a fire broke out on Tuesday, May 31. The six-year-old child was able to get out and was transported to the hospital. Nunley rushed in to burning home to try and save the baby. The infant was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina in critical condition. We’re told both children are now doing well since that fire.

The home was a complete loss.
