Georgetown Co. teen killed in crash on graduation day

GEORGETOWN, S.C. (WCBD)- News 2 has learned an Andrews teenager was killed Wednesday afternoon in a crash on what would have been his graduation day.

The Georgetown County Coroner says 18 year old Nicholas Cameron Cumbie died just before 1 p.m. in a two-vehicle crash on Big Dam Swamp Drive.

Cumbie pulled off of a private drive into traffic on Big Dam Swamp Drive, the teen was struck by an oncoming pickup truck.

The driver of the truck was transported to a local hospital.

Cumbie was a senior at Andrews High School, a graduation ceremony for his class is scheduled for 5 p.m. Wednesday.  The school district says graduation will go on as planned.

South Carolina Highway Patrol investigated the incident.
