CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — Black Matters is planning to hold a rally in memory of victims of the Charleston shooting – Cynthia Marie Graham Hurd, Susie Jackson, Ethel Lee Lance, Depayne Middleton-Doctor, Clementa C. Pinckney, Tywanza Sanders, Daniel Simmons and Sharonda Coleman-Singleton. They were killed during a prayer service by Dylan Roof who committed the shooting in hopes to ignite a race war.
June 17 will mark a one year anniversary of this horrific tragedy.
The rally will be held on June 18 near the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston. Black matters will lay flowers and light candles to honor the memory of the victims and march around the neighborhood in show of faith and solidarity with “Mother Emanuel”. The rally will start at 12 p.m.
