Man assaults, holds hostage Hardee’s worker in Ninety Six

NINETY SIX, S.C. (WSPA) — A man was arrested in Ninety Six Tuesday evening after entering the Hardee’s fast food restaurant through the drive-thru window and assaulting a worker, holding her hostage.

According to Ninety Six Police Chief Chris Porter, a manager at the restaurant was assaulted and held hostage inside of an office in the back by the suspect.

Police officers were on the scene within minutes and broke through a window in the office to get to the suspect and hostage.

The suspect, restaurant manager held hostage, and the police officer that broke the window were all taken to the hospital for treatment. There were no life-threatening injuries for anybody involved.

Chief Porter says that the suspect took “a big hit of meth” before the incident occurred.

The suspect is facing probable charges for kidnapping and assault and battery, among other charges, says Chief Porter.

There will be no ID on the suspect until they are released from the hospital and booked into the Greenwood County Detention Center.
