Charleston, SC (WCBD)- A few of the big social networks are teaming up to stop cyber hate.
Facebook has joined Twitter, YouTube, and Microsoft to help the European Union to stop Hate Speech online.
The online titans signed new rules that would eliminate racist, violent, radical, or illegal content from going viral. This comes in the wake of terrorist groups using the sites to radicalize and recruit, as well as videos of gang rapes being posted by perpetrators, all gaining large volumes of views in the blink of an eye.
The social networks say they will review the “majority” of flagged postings within 24 hours and remove them, if necessary.
The sites also pledge to work together on these issues as EU Commissioner warns of the situation becoming more urgent.
