Bus carrying Belle Hall Elementary students catches fire

AWENDAW, S.C. (WCBD) — The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and Charleston City Fire are investigating after a school bus carrying students caught fire.

Details are very limited but we do know the school bus was from Belle Hall Elementary. The bus fire started in the 5500 block of Highway 17.

In a tweet from Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, we’re told the driver and students are unharmed.

All lanes around the incident area are open.
